Tampa Bay Lightning forward Yanni Gourde is one of my favorite player development stories in the NHL.
As a draft-eligible coming out of the QMJHL, the 5’9” Gourde has the reputation of a high-effort guy with good speed but questionable pro potential. Too small. Won’t play.
He goes undrafted.
