When three NHL stars score off the exact same move within 24 hours, I take notice.
Take a look at Adam Fantilli, Connor Bedard and Leon Draisaitl’s most recent goals.
A few things to consider:
Following a NZ turnover, all three players use crossovers to build speed on the re-entry
They set the puck on their backhand side to bait the defender into reaching
Once the D presents his stick, they get inside the defender’s minimum attack distance (a.k.a. the triangle)
They move the puck quickly from backhand to forehand side, aiming a 2/3-power shot just above the goalie’s pad, on the far side
Practice these pieces separately on your own, put them together against teammates in a practice setting, then try the move in a game. You’ll like the results.
