During the regular season, the Florida Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes were the two most trigger-happy teams at 5v5.

Yet during the PDOCast Conference Final preview, I predicted that their series will be a low-shot volume battle.

Four minutes into last night’s Game 1, neither team had a shot on net.

How did I know?

As good as FLA and CAR are at getting pucks on net, they’re even better at denying time and space when the opposing team has the puck.

Panthers and Hurricanes forwards get in quickly on the forecheck to force turnovers, but it’s what they do after they get beat the first time that makes them so hard to play against.
