Canada’s gold-medal win over Team USA at the recent Women’s World Championships was a surprise to me.
Heading into the event, CAN had not won the Worlds since 2012 and had not beaten USA in a gold-medal game since Sochi 2014. USA’s superior speed and transition play has allowed it to dominate CAN’s bigger, stronger but less agile players.
