Why can certain high-scoring juniors successfully translate their offense to the pros, while others can’t?
Maybe it has something to do with a young athlete’s work ethic and coachability, but typically the biggest factor is the projectability of their game structure to a higher level.
In a 23-minute video workshop, I break down a period’s worth of puck touches by a high-scoring BCHL forward (Sean Donaldson, who we met last week) and contrast it to that of NHL star Johnny Gaudreau.
Not only do I take into account the quality of the players’ individual execution, but also how they react to different types of possession scenarios:
Red Light: Contact puck
Yellow Light: Contested puck
Green Light: Attack puck
(Find out more about the three types of pucks here)
Sean and Johnny are both high-achieving players who have a flair for making plays, but how do their game structures differ?
