Right Up, Change Side, Between Checks

CAR pushes the pace with three forwards, forcing NYR to sag at the blue line.

CAR86 makes a soft catch on the stretch pass, takes one step off the wall and changes side to CAR24.

CAR20 sprints between checks to create a 2v1, gets open for a seam pass and dekes the goalie.

Curl Under, Change Side, Weak-Side D Active

CGY13 creates space underneath EDM’s NZ coverage by skating back toward his Ds and catching a pass with his back to the opposing net. As he turns up-ice, his teammates sprint to create a speed differential.

In short succession, CGY changes sides twice. CGY13 finds CGY4 (a defenseman) with speed at the right dot lane. CGY4 then splits three EDM skaters with a cross-ice pass to CGY28 on the left flank. CGY28 scores through a screen as CGY4 finishes his route and drives the back post.

Right Up, Get off Wall, Weak-Side D Active

Under heavy forecheck pressure, EDM2 rims the puck hard up the wall.

EDM97 shoulder-checks to identify options, makes a difficult play on his first touch (not shown) to find EDM29 in the middle, then sprints wide for the return pass.

Again, EDM97 peels the puck off the wall, this time with a tight cutback to beat CGY29. He then seams the puck to EDM75 (a defenseman) driving the back post.
