Beware the PowerKill

Playing aggressively at 4v5 is in fashion, but shorthanded offense can be a false friend.

During my recent appearance on the Hockey PDOcast, I discussed the NHL’s “diamond PK epidemic” and why I don’t like seeing teams line up in a 1-2-1 when down a skater.

The biggest upside of the diamond is that it allows PKers to aggressively pressure high in the zone to force turnovers and create short-handed chances.
